Stuart Koenig
Stuart Koenig passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012.
Stuart R. Koenig was a graduate of Rutgers University (BA) 1969 and (JD) 1972, and was a partner in the law firm of Stickel, Koenig & Sullivan, Cedar Grove, New Jersey. He had been the regular attorney and special counsel for over forty municipal agencies, and has vast experience in representation of land use boards and municipal governing bodies. He served as Senior Assistant Counsel to the New Jersey League of Municipalities, and as General Counsel to the New Jersey Planning Officials. Since 1995, he had served as Chairman of the League’s Legislative Committee on Land Use, Environment, and Community Development, and since 1979 had been a member of the Municipal Land Use Law Drafting Committee, serving as Chairman of that Committee since 1999. He was the author of Cox & Koenig, New Jersey Zoning and Land Use Administration, published by Gann Law Books, having taken on that role upon the retirement of Bill Cox in 2010. He received numerous awards from the League of Municipalities, New Jersey Planning Officials, and the Institute for Local Government Attorneys, and frequently lectureed and wrote on land use and municipal law issues.
