Jerry J. Dasti Receives Stickel Award

The New Jersey Institute of Local Government Attorneys has conferred its 2016 Fred G. Stickel Memorial Award on Jerry J. Dasti.  The annual award, which is given by the Institute to a member of the New Jersey bar who has demonstrated excellence in the field of public sector law and has contributed time and effort to advance the interests of municipal law, was presented to Dasti at the Institute’s Annual Meeting held in Atlantic City on November 18, 2016. 

The award is named in honor of Fred G. Stickel, III, who practiced municipal law for over fifty years and was counsel to the New Jersey State League of Municipalities for many years. As a prominent member of the public sector bar, Fred Stickel donated countless hours to advance the orderly operation of local governments in New Jersey. 

Mr. Dasti is the Managing Partner at Dasti, Murphy, McGuckin, Ulaky, Koutsouris & Connors in Toms River. He was born in Summit, New Jersey before moving to Ocean County where he has spent most of his life. He received his B.A. from Rutgers University, and his Juris Doctorate Cum Laude from Rutgers University School of Law.

Mr. Dasti has extensive experience representing governmental entities throughout the State including Ocean, Monmouth, Atlantic, Mercer and Burlington Counties.  His areas of practice include representation of many governmental agencies and municipalities, including all aspects civil litigation, land use and zoning matters, commercial and residential real estate, estate planning and probate litigation and business transactions and corporate law.  He has appeared in cases before the New Jersey Supreme Court, the Appellate Division of Superior Court, United States District Court, and the Third Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.

He is a member of the New Jersey Institute of Local Government Attorneys and has the distinction of being recognized by the organization as a Diplomate in Municipal Law.  Mr. Dasti is also a member of the American Bar Association, New Jersey State Bar Association and Ocean County Bar Association 

Mr. Dasti also devotes his time to serving his community by volunteering on numerous boards and committees of nonprofit, educational, and political organizations including as a Trustee of Ocean County College and as Past President of the Lacey Township Chamber of Commerce.
